"How did Bike Beyond start?"
"It all started in South Africa. I was a skinny small kid who liked going fast - on and in just about any thing, including wheel barrows! Skinny small kids with no-sense end-up, if they're lucky, as the hill climbers in elite road-racing teams. I was lucky - I rode in a great team with great hills! That was how Providence began to shape Bike Beyond."
"Fifteen-years later, I'm still skinny and small, but the commitment repertoire has GROWN! It includes:
Travelling to Egypt and Scotland in June/July 08 to learn about how people teach and how  they learn in outdoor contexts. I worked with Guy Cribb - one of the best windsurfing coaches in the world in Egypt - and  learnt a lot about building confidence in people tackling conditions out of their comfort zone and control.
My commitment to learning, supporting, and working with people, took me to the Scottish Highlands in July 08.  This wasn't a joy ride - although mountain biking in Scotland is awesome! It was to undertake the only IMBA (International Mountain Biking Association) recognized mountain bike guide program in the world: Trail Course Leader, and Scottish Mountain Bike Leader Award (SMBLA). I completed the training and assessment for both, and now hold the TCL and SMBLA qualification. Undertaking these courses and assessments reflect my commitment to providing the best possible support and riding experience to my clients: I wanted to know what the best in the world were doing so I could learn from it, and develop it.
